ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF NATIVE LANDS
Every community owes its existence and vitality to generations from around the world who contributed their hopes, dreams, and energy to making the history that led to this moment. Some were brought here against their will, some were drawn to leave their distant homes in hope of a better life, and some have lived on this land for more generations than can be counted. Truth and acknowledgment are critical to building mutual respect and connection across all barriers of heritage and difference. We begin this effort to acknowledge what has been buried by honoring the truth. We are standing on the ancestral lands of the Chitmacha, Acolapissa (now a part of the Houma People), and Chahta Yakni (commonly called Chocktaw). We pay respects to their elders past and present. Please take a moment to consider the many legacies of violence, displacement, migration, and settlement that bring us together here today.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
God our creator, earth has many languages, but your gospel proclaims your love to all nations in one heavenly tongue. Make us messengers of the good news that, through the power of your Spirit, all the world may unite in one song of praise; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

FIRST LESSON Joel 2:28-32 इसके बाद,
मैं तुम सब पर अपनी आत्मा उंडेलूँगा।
तुम्हारे पुत्र—पुत्रियाँ भविष्यवाणी करेंगे।
तुम्हारे बूढ़े दिव्य स्वप्नों को देखेंगे।
तुम्हारे युवक दर्शन करेंगे।
उस समय मैं अपनी आत्मा
दास—दासियों पर उंडेलूँगा।
धरती पर और आकाश में मैं अद्भत चिन्ह प्रकट करूँगा। वहाँ खून, आग और गहरा धुआँ होगा। सूरज अंधकार में बदल जायेगा। चाँद भी खून के रंग में बदलेगा
और फिर यहोवा का महान और भयानक दिन आयेगा! तब कोई भी व्यक्ति जो यहोवा का नाम लेगा, छुटकारा पायेगा। सिय्योन के पहाड़ पर और यरूशलेम में वे लोग बसेंगे जो बचाये गये हैं। यह ठीक वैसा ही होगा जैसा यहोवा ने बताया है। उन बचाये गये लोगों में बस वे ही लोग होंगे जिन्हें यहोवा ने बुलाया था।

SECOND LESSON Acts 2:1-4, 37-47
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

Lorsque le jour de la Pentecôte arriva, ils étaient tous ensemble dans le même lieu. Tout à coup, il vint du ciel un bruit comme celui d’un souffle violent qui remplit toute la maison où ils étaient assis. Des langues qui semblaient de feu et qui se séparaient les unes des autres leur apparurent; elles se posèrent sur chacun d’eux. Ils furent tous remplis d’Esprit Saint et se mirent à parler en d’autres langues, selon que l’Esprit leur donnait de s’exprimer.
Cuando llegó el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos juntos en un mismo lugar, y de repente vino del cielo un ruido como el de una ráfaga de viento impetuoso que llenó toda la casa donde estaban sentados. Se les aparecieron lenguas como de fuego que, repartiéndose, se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos. Todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y comenzaron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les daba habilidad para expresarse.
… Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and to the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what should we do?’ Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him.’ And he testified with many other arguments and exhorted them, saying, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Convict us, convert us, consecrate us, until we are set free from the service of ourselves, to be your servants to the world. Amen.
