THE PEOPLE ARE GATHERED IN

PRELUDE Let Us Break Bread Together

✝PROCESSIONAL HYMN [Blue#457][GTG#624] “I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art”

1 I greet thee, who my sure Redeemer art,

my only trust and Savior of my heart,

who pain didst undergo for my poor sake;

I pray thee from our hearts all cares to take.

2 Thou art the King of mercy and of grace,

reigning omnipotent in every place:

so come, O King, and our whole being sway;

shine on us with the light of thy pure day.

3 Thou art the life, by which alone we live,

and all our substance and our strength receive;

sustain us by thy faith and by thy power,

and give us strength in every trying hour.

4 Thou hast the true and perfect gentleness;

no harshness hast thou and no bitterness.

O grant to us the grace we find in thee,

that we may dwell in perfect unity.

5 Our hope is in no other save in thee;

our faith is built upon thy promise free;

Lord, give us peace, and make us calm and sure,

that in thy strength we evermore endure.

WORDS OF WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADORATION

CALL TO WORSHIP Isaiah 55:11

ONE:  The word of the Lord will not return empty;

MANY: it will accomplish all that God intends.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Almighty God,

We thank you for planting in us the seed of your Word. By your Holy Spirit, help us to receive it with joy, and live according to it,

that we may grow in faith and hope and love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

✝HYMN [Blue#][GTG#808] “When Memory Fades”

1 When memory fades and recognition falters, when eyes we love grow dim, and minds, confused, speak to our souls of love that never alters; Speak to our hearts by pain and fear abused.

 O God of life and healing peace, empower us with patient courage,

by your grace infused.

2 As frailness grows and youthful strengths diminish in weary arms that worked their earnest fill, your aging servants labor now to

finish Their earthly tasks, as fits your mystery’s will.

 We grieve their waning, yet rejoice, believing your arms, unwearied,

shall uphold us still.

3 Within your Spirit, goodness lives unfading. The past and future mingle into one. All joys remain, unshadowed light pervading.

No valued deed will ever be undone.

 Your mind enfolds all finite acts and offerings.

 Held in your heart, our deathless life is won!

CALL TO CONFESSION

Set us free in Jesus Christ. Amen.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

ONE: Lift up your hearts.

MANY: We lift them to the Lord.

ONE: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

MANY: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

ONE: …Therefore with all creation we sing your praise:

MANY: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

ONE: … Great is the mystery of faith:

MANY: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again…

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen

ONE: … The gifts of God for the people of God.

MANY: Thanks be to God.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

✝HYMN[Blue#407] [GTG#762] “When the Poor Ones”

1 When the poor ones who have nothing share with strangers,

when the thirsty water give unto us all, when the crippled in their weakness strengthen others,

Refrain:

Then we know that God still goes that road with us,

 then we know that God still goes that road with us.

2 When at last all those who suffer find their comfort,

 when they hope though even hope seems hopelessness,

 when we love though hate at times seems all around us, Refrain

3 When our joy fills up our cup to overflowing,

 when our lips can speak no words other than true,

 when we know that love for simple things is better, Refrain

4 When our homes are filled with goodness in abundance,

 when we learn how to make peace instead of war,

 when each stranger that we meet is called a neighbor, Refrain

✝PARTING PRAYER

Great Sustainer,

Grant that the words we have heard this day with our ears may be grafted onto our hearts through your grace, that they may produce in us the fruit of a good life, to the praise and honor of Your Holy Name; through Christ, in Christ, and with Christ.  Amen.

THE PEOPLE ARE GATHERED IN

PRELUDE America, the Beautiful

✝PROCESSIONAL HYMN [Blue#564][GTG#338] “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies”

1 O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,

for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!

America! America! God shed his grace on thee,

and crown thy good with *brotherhood from sea to shining sea!

2 O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,

who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life!

America! America! God mend thine every flaw;

confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law!

3 O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years

thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!

America! America! May God thy gold refine

till all success be nobleness and every gain divine!

WORDS OF WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADORATION

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 30:5

ONE:  Weeping may linger for the night,

MANY: but joy comes with the morning

PRAYER OF THE DAY

God of the covenant,

in our baptism you called us to proclaim the coming of your kingdom. Give us courage like you gave the apostles, that we may faithfully witness to your love and peace in every circumstance of life, in the name of Jesus Christ our redeemer,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, forever and ever. Amen.

✝HYMN [Blue#415][GTG#719] “Come, Labor On”

1 Come, labor on. Who dares stand idle on the harvest plain

while all around us waves the golden grain? And to each servant does the Master say, “Go work today.”

2 Come, labor on. Claim the high calling angels cannot share;

to young and old the gospel gladness bear. Redeem the time; its hours too swiftly fly. The night draws nigh.

3 Come, labor on. Cast off all gloomy doubt and faithless fear!

No arm so weak but may do service here. Though feeble agents, may we all fulfill God’s righteous will.

4 Come, labor on. No time for rest, till glows the western sky,

till the long shadows o’er our pathway lie, and a glad sound comes with the setting sun, “Well done, well done!”

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer.
