THE PEOPLE ARE GATHERED IN
PRELUDE America, the Beautiful
PROCESSIONAL HYMN [Blue#564][GTG#338] “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies”
1 O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
and crown thy good with *brotherhood from sea to shining sea!
2 O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life!
America! America! God mend thine every flaw;
confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law!
3 O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
till all success be nobleness and every gain divine!
WORDS OF WELCOME
ANNOUNCEMENTS
ADORATION
CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 30:5
ONE: Weeping may linger for the night,
MANY: but joy comes with the morning
PRAYER OF THE DAY
God of the covenant,
in our baptism you called us to proclaim the coming of your kingdom. Give us courage like you gave the apostles, that we may faithfully witness to your love and peace in every circumstance of life, in the name of Jesus Christ our redeemer,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
HYMN [Blue#415][GTG#719] “Come, Labor On”
1 Come, labor on. Who dares stand idle on the harvest plain
while all around us waves the golden grain? And to each servant does the Master say, “Go work today.”
2 Come, labor on. Claim the high calling angels cannot share;
to young and old the gospel gladness bear. Redeem the time; its hours too swiftly fly. The night draws nigh.
3 Come, labor on. Cast off all gloomy doubt and faithless fear!
No arm so weak but may do service here. Though feeble agents, may we all fulfill God’s righteous will.
4 Come, labor on. No time for rest, till glows the western sky,
till the long shadows o’er our pathway lie, and a glad sound comes with the setting sun, “Well done, well done!”

CALL TO CONFESSION
SILENT CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Patient Lord,
you call and call and we come up with every excuse why we can’t answer, at least not right now. Forgive our fear. Remind us that when we answer your call, we will not be sent out alone, but filled with your gifts, surrounded by your children, and held in your love. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer.

RESPONSE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostle’s Creed
I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
RECEIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS

PRAYER OF DEDICATION
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
HYMN [Blue#411][GTG#744] “Arise,Your light is Come”
1 Arise, your light is come! The Spirit’s call obey;
show forth the glory of your God, which shines on you today.
2 Arise, your light is come! Fling wide the prison door;
proclaim the captives’ liberty, good tidings to the poor.
3 Arise, your light is come! All you in sorrow born,
bind up the brokenhearted ones and comfort those who mourn.
4 Arise, your light is come! The mountains burst in song!
Rise up like eagles on the wing; God’s power will make us strong.
PARTING PRAYER John Wesley*
You are never tired, O Lord, of doing us good. Let us never be weary of doing your service. But as you have pleasure in the well-being of your servants, let us take pleasure in the service of our Lord and abound in your work and in your love and praise evermore. Amen.
CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
RESPONSE [Blue#434][GTG#757] “Today We All Are Called to Be Disciples”
4 May we in service to our God act out the living word,
and walk the road the saints have trod
till all have seen and heard.
As stewards of the earth may we give thanks in one accord
to God who calls us all to be disciples of the Lord.
