WORDS OF WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADORATION

INTROIT “Revelation Song” (Chorus)

*CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 99)

ONE: Our God is holy and mighty, a leader who loves justice,

who established honesty, justice, and righteousness.

MANY: God has done this! We exalt you, O God!

We worship at your footstool. You are holy!

ONE: Miriam, Moses and Aaron were among them, and Samuel, too

was among those who invoked the Name;

they called on God, and God answered them

MANY: We exalt you, O Lord our God, and we worship you at your holy mountain; for you, O God, are holy!

PRAYER OF THE DAY

O God,

in the transfiguration of your Son you confirmed the mysteries of the faith by the witness of Moses and Elijah; and in the voice from the cloud you foreshadowed our adoption as your children.

Make us, with Christ, heirs of your glory, and bring us to enjoy its fullness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

✝HYMN  “Jesus, Take Us to the Mountain”

REPENTANCE

CALL TO CONFESSION

SILENT CONFESSION

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of radiant light, we confess that we are a people who are sometimes too comfortable dwelling in darkness. We say we want things to change, that we do not accept the way things are. But, in reality, we want someone else to take care of the changing. We resist transformation and sometimes do not even believe it is possible. Forgive our unbelief. Soften our hearts toward one another and ourselves. May your Spirit move through and among us. Make us light bearers for your sake, and for the sake of your people. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

✝GLORIA PATRI [Blue#579[ [GTG581]

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

THE WORD READ AND PROCLAIMED

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

RESPONSE  [Blue#586] [GTG#601] “Amen”

1st SCRIPTURE 2 Peter 1:16-21

2nd  SCRIPTURE Matthew 17:1-9

 RESPONSE

✝AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostle’s Creed

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,  and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

RECEIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

RESPONSE “Hear Our Prayer O Lord”

✝HYMN [Blue#460] “Holy God, We Praise Your Name”

✝PARTING PRAYER

Gracious Lord,

You have not left us to clever stories or human imagining, but have revealed your glory in Jesus Christ and spoken Your Word through the prophets. Ground us in Your Love and make us  trustworthy witnesses, that we may listen for Your truth, walk in the light of Christ, and hold fast to Your Word; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
