WORDS OF WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADORATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

ONE:  Our God, ruler of the universe, calls us.

  Christ, who bore the cross, calls us.

  Holy Spirit, who enables us to live, calls us.

MANY: Let us faithfully answer by worshiping the Triune God.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Holy God, You celebrate with us in our joys, and comfort us in our weaknesses.  Fill us today with a fervent desire to live in your kingdom.  Lead us by the cross of Christ to live in the love of Christ, through whom we pray.  Amen.

✝HYMN [Blue#421][GTG#320] “The Church of Christ in Every Age”

1 The church of Christ in every age, beset by change but Spirit-led,

must claim and test its heritage and keep on rising from the dead.

2 Across the world, across the street, the victims of injustice cry

for shelter and for bread to eat, and never live before they die.

3 Then let the servant church arise, a caring church that longs to be

a partner in Christ’s sacrifice, and clothed in Christ’s humanity.

4 For Christ alone, whose blood was shed,can cure the fever in our blood, and teach us how to share our bread

and feed the starving multitude.

5 We have no mission but to serve in full obedience to our Lord:

to care for all, without reserve, and spread Christ’s liberating word.

REPENTANCE

CALL TO CONFESSION

SILENT CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God, in your gracious presence we confess our sin and the sin of this world.  Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. The profit and pleasures we pursue lay waste the land and pollute the seas.  The fears and jealousies that we harbor set neighbor against neighbor and nation against nation.  We abuse your good gifts of imagination and freedom, of intellect and reason, and turn them into bonds of oppression.  Lord, have mercy on us; heal and forgive us, we pray. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ.  Amen.*

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

✝GLORIA PATRI [Blue#579[ [GTG581]

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

✝AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostle’s Creed

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,  and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

RECEIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS

OFFERTORY “When Wind Meets Fire” Elevation Worship Arr. Grant Wall

Duet: Elder Briana Mayfield and Director Randy Martono-Chai

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

✝HYMN [GTG#825] “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”

Refrain:

Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home.

 Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home.

1 I looked over Jordan, and what did I see

 coming for to carry me home?

 A band of angels coming after me,

 coming for to carry me home. O, Refrain

2 If you get there before I do, coming for to carry me home,

 tell all my friends I’m coming too,

 coming for to carry me home. O, Refrain

3 The brightest day that ever I saw, coming for to carry me home, when Jesus washed my sins away,

 coming for to carry me home. O, Refrain

4 I’m sometimes up and sometimes down,

 coming for to carry me home, but still my soul feels

heavenly bound, coming for to carry me home. O, Refrain

✝PARTING PRAYER

As we leave this day, and turn to lunch, fill our hearts with a spirit of joy and wonder. Open our hearts and minds to share with one another. And bless the food and all who have prepared it. Let it nourish our journey with You.  Amen.

THE PEOPLE ARE GATHERED IN

PRELUDE Praeludium in G Major by Johann Kuhnau

✝PROCESSIONAL HYMN [Blue#345][GTG#169] Dear Lord and Father of Mankind

1 Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways;

reclothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find,

in deeper reverence, praise.

2 In simple trust like theirs who heard beside the Syrian sea

the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word rise up and follow thee.

3 O Sabbath rest by Galilee, O calm of hills above,

where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity,

interpreted by love!

4 Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease;

take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace.

5 Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still, small voice of calm!

WORDS OF WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADORATION

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 107:2, 31

ONE: Let the redeemed of the Lord rejoice;

MANY: for the steadfast love of God, give thanks!

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Teach us, Almighty Lord,

to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost;

to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

✝HYMN [Blue#439][GTG#318] In Christ There Is No East or West

1 In Christ there is no east or west, in him no south or north,

but one great fellowship of love throughout the whole wide earth.

2 In Christ shall true hearts everywhere their high communion find;

his service is the golden cord close-binding humankind.

3 Join hands, disciples of the faith, whate’er your race may be.

All children of the living God are surely kin to me.

4 In Christ now meet both east and west; in him meet south and north. All Christly souls are one in him

throughout the whole wide earth.

REPENTANCE

CALL TO CONFESSION

SILENT CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of gospel freedom, we find it difficult to imagine that we could indeed be your children through faith. We cannot believe that we could belong to Christ and be heirs of the promise made to Abraham and his offspring. Help our unbelief; rekindle our imagination. Tame our rebellion. Bring us back to ourselves and to you.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

✝GLORIA PATRI [Blue#579[ [GTG581]

✝HYMN [Blue #394][GTG#792] There Is a Balm in Gilead

Refrain:

There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole;

there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul.

1 Sometimes I feel discouraged, and think my work’s in vain,

but then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again. [Refrain]

2 Don’t ever feel discouraged, for Jesus is your friend,

and if you lack for knowledge, he’ll not refuse to lend. [Refrain]

3 If you cannot preach like Peter, if you cannot pray like Paul,

Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ,

love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.

✝CHARGE AND BENEDICTION

✝RESPONSE [Blue#][GTG#717] For the Life That You Have Given

For the life that you have given,

for the love in Christ made known,

with these gifts that are your own:

here we offer, Lord, our praises;

heart and mind and strength we bring;

give us grace to love and serve you,

living what we pray and sing.
